HARRISBURG, Pa.–A 20-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he pointed a stolen gun at a police officer in Harrisburg, according police reports.

Brian G. Acosta, of Harrisburg, is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness, receiving stolen property, persons not to possess firearms, carrying a firearm without a license and disorderly conduct.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Vernon Street around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a man walking around with a machete and gun.

Investigators found Acosta near Howard Street and Crooked Alley and witnessed him pointing a gun at a nearby vehicle. As an officer approached Acosta, he raised the gun and pointed it at the officer, according to police reports. Acosta then took off after the officer ordered him to drop the weapon.

He ran for two blocks, but was taken into custody near 13th and Derry Streets. Acosta was tased after he resisted arrest, police said.

Authorities recovered the gun and discovered it was reported stolen from Manor Township.

An officer suffered a leg injury during the foot pursuit.

Police said Acosta had been out on bail for a firearms charge on Oct. 23.
