NEWBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa.–An on-duty Newberry Township police officer was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday night in York County.

The crash occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lewisberry and York Roads in Newberry Township.

The officer was responding to a domestic incident and had the emergency lights activated on his patrol car when the crash happened, according to Trooper Rob Hicks, a state police spokesman. An unidentified woman failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of the officer’s vehicle, Hicks said.

The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The other driver was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center with unknown injuries for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
