MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — Millersville Borough Police say they have the man responsible for a burglary spree in an off-campus student housing complex in custody. Roman Clay, 20, is charged with five counts of felony burglary and an additional count of loitering and prowling at night, for allegedly going door-to-door on New Year’s Day morning at Brookwood Court Apartments looking for unlocked apartments. Four of the five apartments were occupied when the suspect entered; in several cases, the victims woke up to find the burglar inside their apartment, even spoke to him in some cases.

Several students reported having cash, wallets and other valuables stolen from their unlocked apartments. Police received these reports over a few days. Five burglary victims from five separate addresses were identified.

Police utilized video surveillance footage at the complex to identify the suspect’s vehicle. That clue ultimately led investigators to Clay.

Police say Clay is from the area, but he is not a Millersville University student. He attends school out of state and was home for the holiday break.

District Judge David Miller arraigned Clay on Thursday evening and set bail at $25,000, which was posted.
