HARRISBURG, Pa.--
The Farm Show is expected to bring 600,000 people to the complex and about $95 million into the Harrisburg area economy.
"It's $95 million at a point in the year when there's not much going on in the Harrisburg region," Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce and CREDC President and CEO David Black said.
This economic impact is welcomed by businesses in the Harrisburg area.
"January tends to be a little slower," Susquehanna Harvest Season Grill and Wine Bar's General Manager Gary Grasela. "To have this kind of event mid-January is awesome."
Black said the PA Farm Show continues to bring more money to the region each year. He said weather is a factor. Snowy years are less of an economic boost as compared to years like this year with little winter weather.
For people like Grasela, he is excited because it allows people to learn what is all in the Harrisburg region.
"Events like this are great for us to get more exposure farther away," he said.
He goes on further to say it's a great marketing tool for not only the businesses but the Greater Harrisburg area.
"It's great. People see what the area has to offer and they come back for something else," Grasela said.
The Farm Show officially starts on Saturday and runs through January 16th.
