HARRISBURG, Pa.–A 14-year-old boy is facing charges after he cut a 13-year-old with a knife during a fight outside of the Camp Curtin School in Harrisburg on Monday, according to the Harrisburg Police Department.

The unidentified 14-year-old student is charged with simple assault and bringing weapons on school property. He was arrested Monday and released into his mother’s custody, police said.

Officers responded to the 2900 block of N. 6th Street shortly after 3:45 p.m. for a report of a large fight involving students from the Camp Curtin School.  When police arrived at the scene–they learned security officers broke up the fight and several students had been taken to the school’s administrative office.

The investigation revealed that a 13-year-old had been cut with a knife during the fight. The student’s injuries were superficial, but may require stitches, police said.

The 14-year-old suspect told police he got involved in the fight after seeing his cousin being jumped by a group of students.  He said he was trying to get the other student’s off of his relative when he cut the 13-year-old with the knife.
