CARLISLE, Pa. –A five year-old boy was found wandering the streets in Carlisle and now his mother is charged for leaving him home alone. It happened on December 20th, 2015. The boy was found in the 200 block of Lincoln Street, near Memorial Park, about a block from his home at 1 in the morning. He told police his mother left him home alone while she went to pick up snacks.

The mother, Evelyn Johnson-Brabham, told police a different story. She told them she left the boy in the care of a woman she knew as ‘Mary.’ Police spoke to ‘Mary’ on phone and she told them she had to attend to an emergency in York and called the mother to let her know. She thought the boy would sleep until his mother returned.

Further investigation revealed that ‘Mary’ did not exist.

Police say Johnson-Brabham had, in fact, left her child home alone for an extended period of time, and this wasn’t the first time he had been left home alone.

A warrant was issued for Evelyn Johnson-Brabham for endangering the welfare of a child.
