SOUTH HAMPTON TWP, Pa- State Police say a portion of Interstate 81 in Cumberland County will remain shut down until 10 a.m. Friday after a fatal crash Thursday night.
According to police around 9 p.m. Thursday, two females were killed when they were traveling north in the vehicle and lost control and crossed the center median.
It got caught underneath a tractor-trailer that was traveling southbound at mile marker 26.
There’s no word if anyone in the truck was injured.
Traffic backups stretched for miles on I-81 south and officials closed the highway in both directions at exit 29.
The southbound lanes remain closed Friday morning between Exit 29: King Street and Exit 24: Fayette St.
State Police say that portion is not expected to reopen until 10 a.m.
