MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- Is 30 inches of snow keeping your spirits down? A trip from Harrisburg to the Bahamas is right around the corner.

Public Charters, a company based out of Scranton, Pa., announced a partnership Wednesday with Harrisburg International Airport. They are offering a chartered vacation to Freeport, Bahamas, featuring a non-stop flight leaving from HIA, from June 24-28.

The trip, which features air fare, drinks, food, and a round of golf, will cost $999 per person and $699 for children.

Jim Gallagher, the President of Public Charters, says when they introduced the vacation package out of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area last fall, it sold out in three weeks.

"Your population deserves nonstop flights to international destinations," Gallagher said. "You have a big area with people who support the airport."

If the summer trip to the Bahamas is successful, Gallagher said, he hopes Public Charters will be able to offer trips leaving out of Harrisburg every season.
