One confirmed dead in Lancaster City shooting

LANCASTER, Pa. – One man is dead in a late afternoon shooting in Lancaster. It happened at about 5:25 pm at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Shippen Street.

City police arriving on the scene found the victim lying on the sidewalk near Howard Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head.  The victim was deceased.

Investigators are looking for at least one and possibly two suspects.  Police say they are pursuing an active lead in the case. Meanwhile Shippen Street between Church Street and Howard Avenue is expected to be closed to traffic until after midnight.
