HARRISBURG, Pa. – There is some hidden talent in the city of Harrisburg, and an event on Sunday aimed to put local entertainers in the spotlight.

Singers, comedians, poets, and pastors all came together for the second annual MLK Talent Showcase at the Neighborhood Center.

Hoops for Hoops planned the showcase. The non-profit aims to bring positivity to the community through recreational activities.

“It brings people together,” Hoops for Hoops President Teron Strawbridge said, “it brings a lot of people together, there’s times such as right now when there’s a lot of things going on in the city and we can use a lot of support from each other.”

The showcase is one of events Hoops is planning. Since 2013, it has hosted free basketball tournaments in the city to give kids something positive to do.
