CARLISLE, Pa. — Project SHARE is asking the community to share the love this Valentine’s Day with their neighbors in need. The Carlisle-area food pantry is asking the community for monetary donations to provide Easter dinner to more than 1,100 families. Easter donations will be accepted through Monday, March 14.

“By opening our hearts to the community, we can do great things for our neighbors in need,” Project SHARE founder and executive director Elaine Livas said. “Easter is a season of hope and encouragement. Our goal is to make sure no one goes hungry on a day meant to be filled with joy.”

No donation is too small. Monetary donations are multiplied by Project SHARE’s ability to buy products at a discounted rate. For example:

  • $14 will fund one ham;
  • $17 will fund one Easter dinner bag without ham;
  • $30 will fund one Easter dinner bag with ham; and
  • $120 will fund complete dinners for four families.

To make a monetary donation of any amount, call Project SHARE at 717-249-7773 or visit

Food donations also are appreciated. Items needed include: canned pineapple, brown sugar, canned green beans, instant bread mix, bottled 100-percent juice, dessert mix, Easter greeting cards, and canned ham or free ham coupons. A shopping list is available at

To donate an item, visit the Project SHARE office Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at 5 N. Orange St., Carlisle. Dropboxes for items are located in the front lobby and at the warehouse entry. Monetary, coupon or gift card donations should be delivered directly to the front office.
