HUNTSVILLE, Al.  — A couple on their way to the hospital was driving a little too fast, but the officer that pulled them over got a big surprise!

Danny and Shawna Lowe say that admitted to speeding right off the bat.  “I got out and went to [Trooper Kesler] and I said, I’m sorry I know I was speeding but my wife’s about to give delivery,” Danny Lowe told WHNT. “I don’t think he believed me.”

But when Shawna started screaming, Trooper Michael Kesler didn’t hesitate.

Danny said he helped guide the baby out, and Kesler brought towels to wrap up the baby and called an ambulance.  Kesler coordinated directions between the family doctor via cell phone and EMS, and accompanied the family to the hospital. He even purchased flowers, cupcakes, and a newborn ‘starter kit to bring to bring to the new parents in t he hospital.

“I got to witness a 6 pound 10 ounce baby being born and it made my day worth coming to work,” says Kesler.

Danny says he’s trying to convince his wife to change little Barrett’s middle name to Michael.

The Lowes were able to get off with just a warning
