CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. – The driver of a school bus drove through a stop sign and hit a car, killing a Utah woman. It happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of W. Trindle Road and S. Locust Point Road in Monroe Township.
According to State Police, 68-year-old Edmund Clapper of Mechanicsburg failed to stop at the stop sign. The bus, carrying 32 students, crashed into the passenger side door of a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, killing 20-year-old old Sadie Wells, of Kaysville, Utah. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people in the Cruze were transported to the hospital.
One student aboard the bus, which carried Cumberland Valley High School and Eagle View Middle School students, was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital for treatment of a minor injury. The Cumberland Valley School District informed parents of the crash. An administrator and school nurse also went to the hospital to support parents and responders.
The investigation into the crash continues.
