BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - State Police say 46 people were injured in a deadly crash on Interstate 78 in Lebanon County on Saturday morning. The victims were transported to seven different local hospitals. Multiple people died at the scene.
State Trooper Justin Summa said over 50 vehicles were involved in the crash.
"It was weather related. It was due to drifting snow and reduced visibility due to the snow," he said.
"It got to the point you couldn't see anything," said Ken Morris, who was driving when the crash happened.
Lebanon County EMA says this is one of the worst crashes in the last 19 years.
"This is one of the most severe we have seen on the Interstate. Certainly, involving this many vehicles, involving fatalities. It's up there, if not the worst, certainly it is one of the worst," said Jamie Wolgemuth, LEMA PIO.
