SNOW TO WINTRY MIX: It is a cold start to the region, but our next system brings warmer air and wintry mix later in the day. It starts as a few morning snow showers. Around noon, expect an area wide light snow to begin. This last until 5 P.M., and then as temperatures slowly warm, a transition to freezing rain and rain takes place through the evening. Temperatures have some difficulty rising to the west and northwest, especially in the valley areas, so they remain freezing rain through midnight. The eastern half of the area should be plain rain by midnight. It’s takes until about 4 A.M. for remaining spots to transition completely to ju

st plain rain. A coating to 3 inches of snow is possible across the region before the transition, making for a difficult evening commute. A light glaze to 0.1” of ice is possible for most, but locations out to the west and northwest could see as much as 0.25”. Prepare for icy roads and dangerous travel through the evening. Heavy rain is anticipated through Tuesday after the changeover, and some spots could see as much as 1 to 2 inches of rain on Monday. There will be some minor flooding concerns for the area.

DRYING OUT: After some morning sunshine, partly sunny skies are expected Wednesday afternoon. Highs are on the mild side, in the lower to middle 40s. Thursday brings more sunshine, but colder temperatures. Afternoon highs fall into the 30s. Friday, clouds increase ahead of our next system, and this brings a late afternoon shower chance. Highs are in the upper 30s.

WEEKEND WARMING: There’s the chance for a few showers Saturday, and it’s milder. Temperatures rise well into the 40s Saturday. We could even reach 50 degrees on Sunday! Skies are partly cloudy.

Have a great Monday!
