Own a drone? Follow these new laws or face stiff penalties

Tonight on FOX43 News at 10, Melanie Orlins looks at a tech toy that could become a legal headache. Quadcopters and drones are now under the watchful eye of the Federal Aviation Administration, and any unauthorized usage could result in fines or even jail time.

The FAA now requires all drones to be insured and those weighing more than half a pound need to be registered online. FOX43 News talked to a local lawyer, police representative and the founder of a local technology meet-up group to find out what the new laws mean for drone fans in our area.
