Missing dog rescued from 15-foot hole in State College

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.–A dog that was reported missing Monday in Centre County was rescued after spending two days at the bottom of 15-foot hole near the Penn State Arboretum.

Skye, who is 7 years-old, disappeared on Monday night near Park Avenue and Bigler Road  in State College while out for a walk. Her owner turned to Facebook and posted photos of the missing dog. Those photos were shared thousands of times, but there were no sightings reported.

While out searching Wednesday morning, Skye’s owners could hear her barking from inside a hole at the arboretum.

The Alpha Fire Company shared Wednesday’s dramatic rescue of Skye via video and photos on their Facebook page.

The Alpha Fire Company, the Penn State University Office of Physical Plant, Centre County COG, the Pennsylvania Urban Search and Rescue team assisted in the rescue.

Pet Recovery of Centre County reports that Skye is doing well.
