YORK COUNTY, Pa. – Fingerprints lead to a Maryland man charged in a retail theft last year in Shrewsbury Borough.

Southern Regional Police responded at about 8:03 am on October 29, 2015 to the Rite Aid Pharmacy, 577 S. Main Street for a retail theft. The male suspect had fled the store before police arrived on the scene.

The suspect stole several cough and cold medicines and discarded the empty boxes as he ran out the front door. He got away in a small black hatchback vehicle. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle.

A SRPD detective processed the discarded boxes for latent prints and sent several prints to the crime lab for a search of the latent print database. A match was found in the FBI fingerprint database and the person identified was operating a vehicle that matched the description of the fleeing vehicle and video surveillance obtained by Southern Regional Police.

The suspect is Steven Bradford Young, age 40, of the 17000 block of Miller Lane, Parkton, Maryland.  Young was charged with retail theft by summons.
