Met Ed and PPL report widespread damage and power outages in Lancaster and York counties in the aftermath of tonight’s storm.

Met Ed says 7,000 of its customers are without power. The major of the customers, 4,000, are in York City, and Springettsbury and York Townships.

PPL reports 2,447 customers are without power. The storm felled trees, and knocked down powerlines. There reports of numerous transformer explosion.  In many cases electrical power isn’t expected to be restored until mid-day on Thursday.

Emergency crews are also at the scene multiple building collapses in Salisbury Township, Lancaster County.  Roofs were reportedly blown off in other areas of the county including the Elizabethtown and Reams.
