UPPER ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A 34-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexually abusing a child in Cumberland County, according to police reports.
Basil Lamarr Duncan, of Carlisle, is charged with two counts of indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age and two counts of corruption of minors. He was arraigned and taken to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Authorities began investigating Duncan in Sept. 2015 after they received information that he had sexual contact with a child who was less than 13 years of age, according to police reports. The alleged sexual abuse occurred over a 5 year period, beginning in 2009.
Police issued a warrant for Duncan’s arrest on Feb. 23 and within less than 12 hours they received numerous tips as to Duncan’s whereabouts.
Upper Allen Township Police were assisted by North Middletown Township Police.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 7.
