LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.—A Conestoga Valley High School senior is a finalist in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Tiffany Dimm is among 15,000 students nationwide who remain in competition for 7,400 prestigious National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $35 million in all. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announce the winners this spring. Dimm is among the top 1 percent of high school seniors nationwide.
Dimm was one of 14 students in Lancaster County named this fall as semifinalists based on their scores on the PSAT. To become finalists, students must also demonstrate a high record of academic performance in college preparatory course work, submit SAT scores that confirm the students’ high performance to the PSAT/NMSQT and earn a recommendation from a high school official.
“Tiffany has taken our most challenging courses, including multiple AP courses and honors level classes, and she achieves at a very high level,” CVHS principal Michael Thornton said. “Clearly, Tiffany places the highest priority on her academic achievement. I definitely see her finding great success in life.”
Dimm is the daughter of Allen and Kazuko Dimm of Lancaster. She plans to attend Swarthmore College with a double-major in biology and English literature with an eye to medical school in the future. She ultimately aims to specialize in women’s health.
At CV, Dimm participates on the Quiz Bowl team and in Model United Nations and founded the CVHS chapter of Amnesty International. Her hobbies include writing poetry.
