This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

Today's Furry Friend is Benson, is a young Great Dane and boxer mix from North Carolina. He was saved by Ellen Harter, of Animal Rescue, Inc. , who drove down to North Carolina and back in one day to rescue him from a high kill shelter.

Jen Althouse will be representing Animal Rescue, Inc. and  is the coordinator of a trap, neuter, and release program for cats called Olivia's Outreach. The program is named after Olivia Perryman, who was a former volunteer for the shelter and really loved animals. Althouse explains how the program can really benefit the community and how the public can get involved.

Check out our morning show for a look at Benson, and our other furry friends that visit the set.
