EPHRATA, Pa.–A 3-year-old boy and his grandmother are expected to recover after they were both hit by a vehicle in Ephrata on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. near the intersection of West Main and Church Street. Police say the boy and his 63-year-old grandmother were walking hand in hand when they were struck while inside a crosswalk.

The driver of the striking vehicle was identified by police as a 28-year-old Ephrata woman.

Both the boy and his grandmother were taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators say the grandmother is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday.
