2 alarm fire damages home in Swatara Township

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – Firefighters battle a 2 alarm fire at a home in Swatara Township. The fire broke out at about 8:37 pm Thursday evening at the two story home along the 5900 block of Acorn Drive in the Chambers Hill area of the Township.  Firefighters reported heavy flames and smoke when they arrived on the scene.

At one point firefighters were forced to fight the stubborn fire from a defensive standpoint.  The fire caused heavy damage before it was declared under control.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family with emergency shelter.
