People are enthused by free food. So enthused that 35 people lined up 24 hours before the new Chick-Fil-A opened in Harrisburg off Lindle Road, and reached its first 100 at about 10 p.m. last night.

The first 100 customers receive one free meal per week for a year at the restaurant, but they were treated well as they endured gusty winds and extremely low temperatures.

Those customers were fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner with hot chocolate provided at night. They were even provided entertainment in the form of games, prizes and live music meant for dancing to help pass the time.

Today at 10 a.m., a special ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held that features parachuting cows off a fire engine truck, bag pipes and presentation of colors, among proclamations and other activities.

In conjunction with the opening of the restaurant, franchise operator Brad Burkholder is holding a children's book drive through 10 p.m. on Friday for the local Boys and Girls club.
