STEELTON, Pa. – Fire has left a Steelton family temporarily homeless. It happened at about 2:10 pm at their single family home in the 400 block of S Street.
The daughter of the homeowners, who was at home sick, noticed smoke and called 911. She escaped without injury and went next door to a relative’s home.
Damage was confined mostly to the basement where the fire started. The upper floors of the two story bi-level had smoke damage. The fire was under control within minutes of the arrival of firefighters.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Preliminary damage estimates are about $30,000.
