Kevin Bankos is the longtime girls head basketball coach at York Catholic.  His daughter Ashton is one of his assistants.  She kind of "volunteered" herself to be a member of her dad's staff.

"He always plays it off like I kind of invited myself, which I really did."

"She said Dad, I am a volunteer, you can't fire me anyway but you know having here on the staff is a huge advantage for the girls."

That advantage comes from playing 3 years under her father at YC and 4 years at Juniata College.  With that experience, Ashton is not afraid to voice her opinion to dear old dad.

"Its one of those things that we have an open conversation and I'll be like I don't think that is going to work or I would have never thought of that."

"I'm sure, she's the most comfortable saying, Dad,what are you doing?  Why aren't we running this and why are we running that?  We are as successful as we are because of the people I have sitting behind me."

That success includes 3 state titles, when Ashton played for her dad and several district championships.  Kevin feels his daughter has the skills to be a great head coach.  But Ashton knows, matching her dad's resume won't be easy.

"I'm don't know how anybody could.  Honestly, its an unbelievable thing to think about."

"She jokes that she doesn't want to follow me at York Catholic because of the Joe Paterno effect or whatever but to me that's nonsense.  Everybody writes their own story.  From a ribbing standpoint, I think that I have the edge and I won't be afraid to use it."
