CHICAGO– It appears that Chicago White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche will retire from the game of baseball before this season even begins. The news comes after the team’s vice president, Ken Williams, supposedly banned his son from the clubhouse, according to CNN.

14-year-old Drake LaRoche has traveled with his father for several years, appearing at spring training when LaRoche played with the Washington Nationals and the Chicago White Sox.

LaRoche told the team Tuesday that he now plans to retire, a decision that will cost him the $13 million he was owed from the team this season. However, he hasn’t finalized this decision, as his retirement papers haven’t been filed with the league.

Williams disputes the claim.

Baseball writer, Ken Rosenthal posted tweets and a Facebook post that give further background to the story.
