CHILLY, WINTER LIKE WEEKEND AHEAD

High pressure builds in tonight calming the winds and clearing the skies. Temperatures will drop fast to the upper 20s to low 30s.

ME SkyCast Tonight Tomorrow CSV

The day begins with abundant sunshine but quickly diminishes as clouds roll in during the afternoon. A chillier day is in store, as high temperatures only climb to the mid 40s, which is below average. Old man winter is not ready to say goodbye. In fact, just because the calendar says spring, doesn’t mean we still can’t deal with winter weather. In fact, we could be seeing snow for the first day of spring. Some upper level energy will bring the first round of a light snow/rain mix Saturday night into Sunday. It is likely we’ll see a light accumulation. Then we are tracking a developing coastal low, which will threaten the area Sunday and Sunday evening with snow. Since snow is falling during the day time hours, the March sun angle is higher and temperatures will be well above freezing, the snow will mix with rain showers for a bit, before transitioning back to snow. This will cut down on accumulations, but we could still get a couple of inches sticking mainly to grassy surfaces. Some back roads and less traveled areas may see the snow accumulate on the roads, but road temperatures are pretty warm and snow will have a difficult time accumulating on them. High temperatures only rise to the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. Storm pulls away Sunday night shutting down any remaining snow.

Snow Probs

FIRST WEEK OF SPRING

A chilly beginning to spring, as temperatures will struggle through the lower 40s, and breezy winds will add to the chill. Sunshine will fight clouds too. By Tuesday, high pressure builds into the area. More sunshine expected, but the day begins with very cold, morning lows in the 20s. We’ll rebound under bright skies to the middle 40s. It’s a different story by the middle part of the week, as we spring ahead quickly to warmer temperatures in the 60s. Rain chances will start to go up too.
