New Holland, Pa. - A new reward is being offered for anyone who has information about an animal cruelty case in Lancaster County. Lilly the horse was abandoned at a sales stable in Lancaster County. Workers at the stable called authorities when they noticed the horse was not getting treatment. An examination by a vet revealed not only that the 20-year-old horse was blind in one eye, but also had been shot more than 100 times by a paintball gun.
There are no arrests so far, so today, PETA offered $4,000 for information. That brings the total reward money to $5,000. Human officers say it's important to catch whoever did this to Lilly.
"We're asking that anyone who might recognize this mare or anyone who has tips in regards to who could have done this to contact us immediately," said Jennifer Nields, a humane officer at the Lancaster County SPCA. "Another concern is the fact that if they have any other animals in their care, we want to obviously be checking up on them too so that nothing like this happens to any other animal again."
Lilly is currently recovering at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square. Anyone with information on Lilly's case should call the Lancaster County SPCA.
