SHOWERS TO END THE WEEK
A cold front slides through early Friday. Ahead of the front, showers spread in across the area overnight into the morning drive time. Not a lot of rain expected but some areas may pick up as much as a .25”. Most will receive less than a .25″.
Morning lows expected to be mild in the 50’s. While it will be breezy early, they become stronger during the afternoon 10 to 20 MPH and shift to the west behind the departing frontal system.
Since temperatures are starting off so mild, and with a blanket of sunshine, highs will warm to the middle and upper 60s. Much cooler air arrives overnight into Saturday morning. High pressure will clear the skies and lows will drop to the 30’s. Despite a chilly start to the weekend, sunny skies will warm temperatures back to the upper 50s. Easter Sunday is even nicer. Highs will warm to the lower to middle 60s with plentiful sunshine and a light breeze.
NEXT WEEK
Our next rain threat arrives Monday. Temperatures attempt to reach 60 but most areas hover in the 50s. We are dry Tuesday, Wednesday and most of Thursday, before shower chances return. High pressure provides abundant sunshine both Tuesday and Wednesday with highs warming to seasonable highs in the middle 50s then to near 60 mid-week. A milder flow ahead of our next front will push highs into the lower 60s Thursday.
FLOOD SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK
Flood Safety Awareness Week continues with today’s topic of Flood Insurance.
Flooding causes more damage in the United States than any other weather-related event. Many don’t realize flood-related losses are NOT covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy. Sometimes we don’t realize it until it is too late.
You can buy flood insurance from private insurance companies and agents to make sure your property is covered. There are over 100 insurance companies that sell flood insurance coverage through some 60,000 independent agents. If you are a renter, be sure to check with property management or your landlord about coverage. The dwelling itself may have insurance coverage, but you will need to double-check your personal property is included too. In most cases it is not. Contact your local insurance agent and educate yourself on types of coverage and what suits you best!
