SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Easter is almost here, and folks in York County are getting ready by dyeing their eggs the natural way.

The York County Parks and Recreations hosted a special natural egg dyeing program at Nixon Park, Families in the area learned how to color their eggs by using things such as onion skins, blueberries, and even coffee.

The program's goal is to teach children the history behind the art of egg dyeing and its natural process.

"It's been a tradition here at Nixon Park to use these  natural products and give people an alternative to dyeing their eggs," park staff member Mary Ronan said, "So, we have everything from onions skins, to turmeric powder, to red cabbage that people can use to make really nice colors."

Families also got to enjoy other Easter-themed crafts while dyeing their eggs.
