HARRISBURG, Pa.--Today is Vietnam Veterans Day and the Department of Military Veterans Affairs held an event to thank Vietnam veterans for their service.

The group came together at the capital rotunda. Vietnam veterans received symbolic pins honoring their sacrifice to the country. On the back of the pin are the words, "a grateful nation thanks and honors you."

Brigadier General Jerry Beck, Jr. told the veterans, "Our country, our commonwealth, our families and our children owe you a debt of gratitude."

President Barack Obama proclaimed March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Day in 2012.
