HARRISBURG, Pa.–Two men were arrested Saturday after police say they broke into an apartment in Harrisburg where they tied up a woman and tried to strangle a man.

Kenneth Williams, 47, of Steelton, and Ronald Payton, 45,  of Harrisburg, are each charged with criminal attempted homicide, burglary, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, robbery and aggravated assault. Williams’ bail was set at $50,000 and Payton’s bail was set at $100,000.

Officers responded to the 2300 block of North Front street on Saturday night shortly after 9 p.m. for a reported domestic assault. Investigators discovered Williams and Payton forced their way into Williams’ ex-girlfriends apartment and assaulted the woman and another man.

Police say both victims were beaten and the male victim was strangled to the point in which he lost consciousness.

Williams and Payton were still inside the apartment when police arrived at the scene. After several tense minutes, both surrendered with out incident.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20.
