LANCASTER, Pa.–A 29-year-old man is behind bars after police say he burglarized two Lancaster city businesses over the weekend.
Sean Kemberling, of Lancaster, is charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, criminal attempt at theft by unlawful taking and possession of a controlled substance.
The first burglary was reported around 5:12 a.m. on Saturday at the .99 Center located long the first block of West King Street. The store owner showed police video surveillance of a man, later identified as Kemberling, kicking out the lower half of the glass front door. After pulling the safety glass from its frame, Kemberling is seen entering the store and taking money from the cash register.
Around 5:44 a.m. police received a similar burglary report from Sara’s Grocery and Deli located along the 200 block of West King Street. Investigating officers found the glass window next to the front door shattered and the cash register laying on the floor.
Kemberling was arrested along the 200 block of West Orange Street. Police say he was in possession of the stolen cash and eight Alprazolam pills, for which he does not have a valid prescription for. Kemberling was taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 26.
