YORK, Pa.-- Gas is still the main fuel for our vehicles on the road, and even some appliances off it.

Now, alternative fuel cars are looking to make an impact on the road, as research and competition by college students is paving the way for the next generation of automotive engineers to make their mark.

The competition, called EcoCar 3, is meant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and potentially save motorists some money at the pumps.
