ARSON ARREST

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – A Mechanicsburg man is charged with arson in two overnight garage fires in the borough.

Police and Firefighters responded to the first fire at a home in the 400 block of S. High Street at 11:31 p.m. Thursday.  The initial call was for a garage fire to the rear of the residence. Officers were then notified that there was another fire at the front of the home.  The garage and a vehicle inside were heavily damaged.  There was minimum damage done to the home.

At the same time another garage fire was reported on the same street. It was determined that items had been placed up against the garage and set on the fire.

A State Police Fire Marshal ruled the fires arson.  During the course of the investigation, video footage was found of a man who was known to police.

That man, identified as Paul Miller, 40, was arrested and charged with two counts of Arson, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Risking a Catastrophe.

The cases are still under investigation; more charges may be pending. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Mechanicsburg Police at (717) 691-3300.
