LANCASTER, Pa.– A Lancaster man will serve up to 20 years for holding a stolen revolver to a man’s head before resisting police until they deployed an electronic stun gun.
Robert Charles Lowden, 23, was under the influence of synthetic marijuana during the April 17, 2015 incident on South Prince Street, where he confronted a man he didn’t know.
A city police officer and Constable Brandon Balmer eventually cornered Lowden, who was agitated and uncooperative. Police reported he acted in a “very violent… threatening manner.”
Lowden pleaded guilty in February to aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, and two firearms violations.
He was prohibited from having firearms due to a prior felony conviction of having a gun with an obliterated serial number.
Assistant District Attorney Travis S. Anderson called Lowden a danger, saying the community is safer with everyday Lowden spends in prison.
Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker agreed with the evaluation and ordered a 9-to-20-year state-prison term.
