Clarksville, TN– Police are investigating after several nooses were found on the Austin Peay State University campus in Clarksville.

The six nooses, all in different colors and organized in the colors of a rainbow, were found hanging from a tree near the Trahern fine arts building.

Police took them down and are working to figure out where they came from.

“This incident is deeply disturbing and is hurtful to our University community,” APSU President Alisa White, in a statement. “Regardless of the intent, the display has no place on our campus. I am saddened, and I am sorry for the hurt and offense this has caused and want our students, faculty, and staff to know that it will not be tolerated.”
