LANCASTER, Pa.– Marticville Middle School in the Penn Manor School District was placed on lockdown Wednesday.
All students and staff are safe, according to a statement from the school district.

This is a message from the Penn Manor School District. This is Mike Leichliter, Superintendent of Schools. At approximately 8:15 am this morning the Pennsylvania State Police contacted Marticville Middle School and instructed the administration to place the building on lockdown due to threats to student safety. All students and staff are safe in the school and State Police are on site. Buses for Pequea Elementary students who are housed at Marticville Middle School have been diverted to Penn Manor High School. The School District asks that all Marticville families stay away from the school while the school district awaits further information and direction from the Pennsylvania State Police. We will provide further information as the State Police provides more details to the school district.

UPDATE: The lockdown has been lifted at Marticville Middle School. The following message is being sent to all Penn Manor families:
This is Mike Leichliter, Superintendent of Schools. This is an update to an earlier Alert message. The lockdown at Marticville Middle School has ended.
At approximately 9:15 am Penn Manor School District administration received an update from the lead investigator from the Pennsylvania State Police. Upon further investigation, the State Police determined that there is no threat to Marticville Middle School or students in the building. State Police instructed the district to end the lockdown and resume normal operations.
Pequea Elementary buses that were at Penn Manor High School are now en route to Marticville Middle School. We thank our community for your cooperation this morning as we work to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.
