NEW YORK, NY.– A media-giant is looking to become even larger.

Gannett, one of the largest media companies in the U.S., is looking to expand its hold on the newspaper business.

It is reported that Gannett has offered to buy the publishers of the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune.

The move would represent a significant expansion for the company, as the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune are two of the premier newspapers around today.

The publisher also is the parent company of more local papers such as Allentown’s The Morning Call and the Baltimore Sun.
