elections 2016

YORK, Pa.– With 2016 being a primary presidential year, officials are expecting a big voter turnout today in Pennsylvania.

However, it is necessary that voters are properly prepared to cast their ballot, as there are a few things a person will need.

For those who may be voting for the first time, you must have a photo ID, such as a PA Driver’s License or a non-photo ID like a voter registration card.

It is also important to know that because this is a primary presidential election, voters must be associated with a political party unless they plan on voting on the on referendum on the ballot which will ask whether you would like to abolish the Philadelphia Traffic Court.

Finally, it is necessary that voters know where they need to go to vote today. There are a few ways to find out, including the address printed on your registration card or calling your county’s local registration office. You are also able to visit the state department’s website which will tell you what voting location to go to based on your address.

The doors for voting open at 7 a.m. and you will be able to vote until 8 p.m. this evening. As long as you are in line by 8 p.m. you will be able to vote.

Kara Duffy is previewing the big day from Aldersgate Methodist Church in York Township, which is one of hundreds of places where voting will take place today.
