MIDDLETOWN, Pa.– After the hearing being delayed for a month, the Middletown Zoning Board will hold the meeting on the proposed crematory Wednesday.

The group Middletown Citizens Awareness Network is upset with how quickly a permit for the crematory was approved, and says it is planned to be built in a converted garage in the funeral home parking lot. Yet, the group doesn’t understand why these plans weren’t scrutinized.

Both attorneys for the funeral home and Middletown Borough have not commented on the issue.

The Planning Commission meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers. The group is responsible for responding to zoning requests, reviews development plans and works on long range planning projects.
