Cocaine, weapons seized in major drug bust

YORK, Pa. – Two Reading men are arrested in a major drug bust in York. The suspects identified as Ruben Morales, 23 and Jose Avila, 27, face numerous charges.  Investigators say the two were running a large cocaine vending operation.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by the York City Police Department, and DEA agents from Allentown and Berks County Detectives.  They were assisted by police from Reading City, West York and Hellam.

gunsSeveral pounds of cocaine with a street value of $400,000 was seized during the investigation.  Police also seized $70,000 in cash and weapons. The weapons included four pistols, a .357 Ruger, a .357 Coonan, a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson, a .38 caliber Colt and two semi-automatic rifles, a 7.62 caliber AK-47, and a .223 caliber AR-15.

Morales is being held at York County Prison on $75,000 bail and a parole detainer.

Police say their investigation continues and more arrests are anticipated.
