Lebanon man jailed for hitting wife in the head with a rifle butt, brick

LEBANON, Pa. – A Lebanon man is behind bars charged with beating his wife on the head with a the butt of a rifle.

City police responded at about 7:34 p.m. Wednesday to a domestic incident in the 700 block of Union Street.

The victim told officers that her husband 47 year oldĀ  Benigno Ayala assaulted her. She reported that Ayala struck her in the head with the butt end of a rifle and also hit her on the head with a brick, causing her bodily injury. The suspect also allegedly made threats to harm his wife and their three minor children.

Ayala was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats, Unlawful Restraint, Possessing Instruments of Crime, and Resisting Arrest.

Following arraignment he was sent to the Lebanon County Prison on $200,000.00 bail.
