MANCHESTER TWP., Pa. -- A fugitive accused of shooting at a York County police officer is in custody.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Trev Jackson, 24, in Philadelphia, ending a five-month search.
Northern York County Regional Police are glad to hear Jackson was arrested. He is accused of shooting at Officer Lynn Anderson when he was pulled over for a traffic stop in Manchester Township.
Jackson jumped back in his car and drove off, and Anderson returned fire as he fled.
Chief Mark Bentzel said he didn't think it would take so long to catch him.
"This whole ordeal has gone on more than five months so the day before he was actually apprehended we believe that there was good, solid information on where he was located," he said.
Bentzel said the police didn't receive many tips on Jackson's whereabouts.
"We've been excited before over the last five months only to be disappointed," he said. "So we were very very happy that this was finally brought to an end and he was apprehended."
He said it was a relief for Anderson.
"Of course he was very happy. I think it's just a burden that he no longer has to carry," he said.
Jackson wouldn't have been caught if it wasn't for the help of other law enforcement officials.
"No one in law enforcement wants to see a crime like this, have someone be able to elude law enforcement for a long period of time," Bentzel said.
When Jackson was arrested, his left hand was injured, which is where police think Anderson shot him.
Jackson was brought back to the York County Prison where he will face multiple charges, including attempted homicide.
