SHREWSBURY TWP., Pa. -- The Walmart in Southern York County evacuated because of a bomb threat. This is the same Shrewsbury Walmart that closed temporarily after a man attempted to rob the store and was shot by police.

Pennsylvania State Police were guarding the doors to the Walmart, prohibiting anyone from coming in.

Trooper Edward Asbury said, "It was found that a note was located in the men's restroom. The note contained information of a possible bomb on the premises."

Bomb-sniffing K-9s were called in to sweep the area.

People who live in the area said this type of activity isn't common, but has been recently.

Karen Bremmer, a Walmart shopper, said, "I was quite shocked because ever since I've lived up here for 30 years, it's been virtually quiet, but lately I've been noticing some incidents up here."

The same Walmart was evacuated in April after police said a man attempted to rob the pharmacy department. He shot at an officer, and the officer returned, hitting him in the chest.

Many people who tried to get into the Walmart Thursday morning were upset they weren't allowed in.

"It kind of makes you a little mad that you know you can't live your life when you're up here and you think everything is fine constantly. But this kind of thing is starting to happen. It's very unnerving," Bremmer said.

The scene was cleared and no bomb was found, but police are still investigating who wrote the note.

Asbury said, "At this point we will take that note and examine that forensically to see if any evidence can be obtained."

Police said they will also be checking surveillance cameras to see who was going in and out of the bathrooms.
