HARRISBURG, Pa.– Harrisburg Police are searching for a man who is considered armed and dangerous after he escaped authorities in a chase.
Jeffrey Simpson, 26, has been charged with aggravated assault, delivery of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, criminal use of a communication device, fleeing the scene of an accident, and reckless driving after an undercover operation went awry.
On May 4, police conducted an undercover operation in which they purchased $300 worth of heroin from Simpson. 25 minutes later, Simpson sold 50 bags of heroin to the unit at which time members of the Street Crimes Unit made their move to take Simpson into custody.
Officers attempted to place a vehicle in Simpson’s path from leaving, but he was able to flee the area in a vehicle at a high speed, while almost striking an officer. Simpson struck on parked police car and another that was moving into the area. He continued down N. 15th and Herr Streets where he caused an accident, and didn’t stop at the scene. The vehicle was found abandoned on the 1200 block of community drive.
Officers followed up the chase by executing a search warrant at his residence on the 1800 block of North Street, where they found a 40 caliber handgun, a 9mm pistol, and additional ammunition.
