RECALL: Customers Alerted to Salty Almond Chewy Granola Bar

Carlisle, PA – Due to a potential contamination, TreeHouse Foods, Giant Food Stores, and Martin’s Food Markets have recalled Sweet & Salty Almond Chewy Granola bars, according to Giant.

There have been no reports of illnesses, however, their is potential Listeria monocytogenes in them. Consumption of contaminated food with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon, but potentially fatal disease. Listeria is commonly found in soil.

Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Other signs of consumption, include, miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.
