State Police Shots Fired

WAYNESBORO, Pa.– Police are searching for suspects after an incident in which shots were fired in a rotary parking lot ended in escape.

At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Waynesboro Police responded to a call of shots fired in the Rotary parking lot.

Witnesses reported they saw 2 men walking in the lot,  one was a light-skinned male wearing a black hooded-sweatshirt, dark pants, and dark shoes and the other a black male. Both are being reported to have been in their late teens with average heights and weights.

These two men approached a lone black male who was standing in the parking lot. The lone male then took off running through the parking lot, darting throughout the parked cars while the other two males pursued. At this time, a maroon Acura with PA registration plates entered the parking lot, with two more black males emerging from the vehicle.

Upon seeing these men in pursuit, the light-skinned male turned a fired a single shot from a small silver handgun toward the two that had exited the vehicle. This led the lone black male to enter the Acura with the two black males that had been in the car previously, and they fled the lot.

The shooting suspect fled south-east across the lot, and his companion fled west.

There were no injuries reported and no evidence located at the scene.

While an investigation has begun, anyone with information regarding this event is requested to contact the Waynesboro Police at 717-762-2131.
